   - The design uses one weight. A 500 face used to ship and never loaded: the
     only bold tags on the page are the mobile menu's <b>, which the stylesheet
     sets back to 400. Deleting it cost nothing and saved 154 KB of repo.
   - The variable EB Garamond looks like the tidier choice and measures worse
     here: its latin roman and italic are 43 KB + 47 KB against 43 KB + 25 KB
     for these statics, so it is 22 KB more over the wire to buy a weight axis
     nothing asks for. Revisit only if the design starts using real weights.

   A page load currently pulls four files, 93 KB total. If you add a weight,
   measure it — do not assume variable is smaller.
