MyZen Back to MyZen

Terms

The agreement between you and MyZen when you book a class, buy a pass, or become a member. Last reviewed 8 September 2026.

These terms apply to everything sold through this website and at the studio. They are written to be read, not to be survived. Where a rule matters — the twelve hours before a class, what a pass is worth, how a membership ends — it is stated plainly, and it is the same rule the booking system actually applies.

Who you are dealing with

Olesea Rusu, R. do Dr. Carlos Varela, São Martinho, 9000-113 Funchal, Madeira, Portugal — “MyZen”, “we”, “us” below. Tax number (NIF) 306145715. Email connect@myzen.pt. Full details are on the imprint.

If you are booking as a consumer, Portuguese and EU consumer law gives you rights that nothing here can take away. Where a line below and the law disagree, the law wins.

What we sell

  • A drop-in pays for one named class and nothing else.
  • A class pack (5 or 10 classes) is a number of credits, valid for 30 days from the day you buy it.
  • Unlimited Week covers any classes for seven days from the day you buy it.
  • Core and VIP are memberships. They cover unlimited classes and renew every month until you stop them.
  • Workshops and ceremonies are ticketed per event. They are never covered by a pass or a membership, whichever one you hold.

Prices, class times and teachers are shown on the schedule and in your account, and those are the authoritative version.

Booking a class

Booking opens as far ahead as the schedule shows and closes when the class starts. A place is yours when the booking appears in your account and the confirmation email arrives — not when the payment page opens. Every class has a fixed capacity, and a class is full when it is full.

If you hold more than one pass, the system spends the one that would otherwise be wasted first: a drop-in bought for that class, then a membership, then an Unlimited Week, then the pack expiring soonest.

Changing or cancelling a booking

Twelve hours or more before the class starts, cancel in your account and the credit goes back — a pack credit returns to the pack; a membership class simply frees the place. There is no charge, and no limit on how often you do it.

Less than twelve hours before, the credit is spent. The place cannot be filled at that notice and the teacher is already on their way. Please still cancel, so whoever is waiting can have the place.

Not turning up is the same as cancelling late.

Cancelling a booking does not refund money. Money comes back only in the cases below.

The waiting list

When a class is full you can join its waiting list if you already hold something that could pay for it. When a place comes free it goes to the first person waiting, automatically — you are booked and emailed. Watch for that email: from then on it is an ordinary booking, and the twelve-hour rule applies to it.

Promotion from the list stops one hour before the class starts. After that, a free place goes to whoever asks for it at the desk.

If we cancel a class

Occasionally we have to — illness, a power cut, something we did not see coming. We tell you by email as soon as we know.

  • If you booked with a pass or a membership, the credit goes back in full and the place on your pass is restored.
  • If you bought a drop-in or a workshop ticket for that class, we refund the money to the card or account you paid with, and issue a credit note.
  • A cancelled class does not extend a pack or a membership by itself. If a cancellation costs you the last days of a pass, write to us and we will put it right.

Passes and packs

A pack is valid for 30 days from purchase and an Unlimited Week for seven, whether or not you use them. Credits left when a pack expires are gone; we do not carry them forward, which is why we sell the 5-class pack alongside the 10.

Passes are personal. They cannot be shared, lent or transferred, and we do not buy them back. If illness or injury keeps you out for a long stretch, write to us — we would rather freeze a pass than lose you.

Memberships

Core and VIP renew automatically each month, on the day you joined and at the price you joined at, until you stop them. There is no minimum term.

Stopping one takes a moment in your account, under Manage membership. It runs to the end of the month you have paid for and then stops; we do not refund part of a month. You keep every class you have already booked inside that period.

If a payment fails, your membership keeps working for seven more days while the card is retried, and we email you. If it has not gone through by the end of those seven days, booking stops until it does.

If we change the price of a membership we tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can stop it before then.

Workshops and ceremonies

A workshop ticket is for that one event. Because a workshop is planned around the number of people coming, a ticket can be cancelled for a full refund up to seven days before it, and after that only if we can fill your place. Tickets can be passed to someone else at any time — just tell us who is coming.

Prices, payment and invoices

Every price on this site is in euros, for consumers, and includes VAT at the Madeira rate. Card and MB WAY payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. At the studio we also take cash.

An invoice (fatura-recibo) is issued for every payment and appears in your account, usually within a few minutes. Put your NIF in your account before you pay if you need it on the invoice — a certified invoice cannot be edited afterwards, only cancelled by a credit note and reissued.

Changing your mind

For a pack, an Unlimited Week or a membership bought on this website, you have 14 days to change your mind and get your money back, under Portuguese distance-selling law. If you start using it inside those 14 days you are asking us to begin straight away: we then deduct what you have used and refund the rest.

That 14-day right does not apply to a place booked in a class or a workshop on a named date — leisure services with a fixed date are excluded from it by law. The twelve-hour rule above is what stands in its place.

To use the right, write to connect@myzen.pt within 14 days of buying. We refund the way you paid, within 14 days of hearing from you.

Your account

You sign in with a link sent to your email address, so keep that address current and to yourself. Your account is yours alone. Tell us if you think someone else has reached it.

You can ask us to close it at any time. We keep what Portuguese tax law requires us to keep — invoices, for ten years — and delete the rest. The privacy page says exactly what we hold and why.

In the studio

The studio guidelines describe how the room works, and booking a class means agreeing to them.

Practise within what your body can do that day. Tell your teacher about injuries, pregnancy, recent surgery or any condition that could matter — before class, not during it. Our teachers are qualified in what they teach, but a class is not medical treatment and nothing said in one is medical advice. If you have any doubt, ask a doctor first.

Under-18s are welcome with the consent of a parent or guardian, who makes the booking and stays responsible for them.

We may ask someone to leave, or decline a booking, if they make the room unsafe or unwelcoming for other people. If that happens we refund whatever is unused.

Bring as little as you can. We have no secure storage and are not responsible for belongings left in the studio, except where the loss is our fault.

What we are responsible for

We are responsible for running the classes we sell you with reasonable care and skill, and for everything the law says we are responsible for — including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and anything else that cannot be limited by agreement. Nothing here changes that.

Beyond it, we are not liable for losses we could not have foreseen, and what we owe on any one purchase is limited to what you paid for it.

If something goes wrong

Please write to connect@myzen.pt first. Nearly everything is settled in an email, and quickly. There is also a complaints book (livro de reclamações) at the studio, and its electronic version at livroreclamacoes.pt.

If we cannot settle it between us, the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform is at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not signed up to a consumer arbitration body and are not obliged to be.

Changes to these terms

We update this page when the studio changes. The version on this page is the one that applies, and the date at the top says when it was last reviewed. A change never applies to a class you have already booked or a month you have already paid for; for memberships we give 30 days’ notice of anything that affects you.

Law

Portuguese law governs these terms. As a consumer you keep the protection of the law of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in the courts there.
